One of the things that I love about Wheaton is how much of a sense of community there is in the town. Even though Wheaton is smack in the middle of the western suburbs of Chicago, there is a real feeling of it having the good attributes of small town relationships.

I originally talked on the phone to the mom of this family on a lovely early summer afternoon. We started brainstorming and talking together about her vision for her family portraits. A couple of days later, I was up at Northside Pool for my youngest son's swim lessons. I was chatting with a friend who also had a son in swim lessons. After a few minutes of chatting, my friend started introducing me to the other moms sitting on her other side. One of the moms said, "Wait, your voice sounds familiar, are you Kim Johnson? We talked on the phone the other day!" Apparently I have a distinctive voice. I think it might be my quirky eastern Pennsylvania roots :)

Turns out that this mom also goes to the same gym as me, so it's been fun to chat with her as we are doing our hair after workouts and stay caught up with what her kids are currently up to. All such fun perks of living in a friendly, community oriented town!
